Dr Tony Sutherland is a Consultant Anaesthetist at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital with extensive experience supporting complex orthopaedic surgery, including spinal deformity correction, revision joint surgery and bone tumour procedures. He has a particular interest in post-operative pain management using ultrasound-guided nerve blocks for the upper and lower limbs.

Biography

Dr Tony Sutherland is well into his second decade of anaesthetising for all types of Orthopaedic surgery. These can be highly complex operations and include spinal deformity/scoliosis straightening, revision joint surgery (replacing a damaged or infected joint replacement) and bone cancer surgery. ​ He has a special interest in post-op pain relief using nerve blocks of the upper and lower limbs, and has presented his findings in ultrasound guided regional anaesthesia at international meetings.
